Biography

Tinke Hooijmans is Associate Professor of Sanitary Engineering at IHE Delft. She has 25 years of experience in teaching, research, consultancy and capacity building in field of sanitary engineering and sanitation, with a focus on developing countries. She runs a 3-weeks course on Modelling of Activated Sludge wastewater treatment systems, face-to-face as well as internet-based learning. 

Her research field includes wastewater treatment and sanitation solutions under urban conditions and humanitarian emergencies. She works on novel technologies such as aerobic granular sludge and anaerobic membrane bioreactor systems, as well microwave treatment of faecal and septic sludge.
