Ms Rozita Singh is an Indian national with a Bachelors in Journalism and a Masters in Sustainable Development Practice. She is a Netherlands Fellowship Programme scholar who recently completed her MSc Urban Management and Development from Institute of Housing and Urban Studies (IHS) at Erasmus University, Rotterdam. Prior to this, she worked at The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in New Delhi in the Sustainable Habitat Division. She has over 5 years of experience in the area of climate resilient cities and waste management. She has written and contributed to several journal articles and peer reviewed publications. Currently she is associated with the UN Major Group for Children and Youth (UN MGCY) as one of their focal points in the Science-Policy Interface teams. She is currently researching on the topic of network governance and its influence on shaping the transition to a circular economy in Netherlands.
Besides this, she is an active youth leader in the field of sustainability. The journey began in 2009, when she was selected as an International Climate Change Champion by British Council. Out of her passion for waste management, in 2012, she started a composting initiative in New Delhi in partnership with Daily Dump. She also conducts capacity building workshops on the subject for all kinds of stakeholders from time to time. The enterprise was the winner of India Social Entrepreneur of the Year, 2015. At Erasmus University campus this year, she was the chairperson of EFR’s (Economic Faculty Association of Rotterdam) first Sustainability Committee. She is interested in furthering her research in the area of sustainable urban development with a focus on climate resilience and circular economy.
