Mbaruku Vyakweli is a communication expert with over ten years of experience in the water sector. He holds MA degree in International Relation and a Post Graduate Diploma in Mass Communications. He is the Head of Corporate Affairs and International Cooperation at Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company Ltd, one of the largest water utility in East and Central Africa. He has been in that position for the last nine years in which time the utility has registered improved corporate image, enhanced reputation, customer service and build strong international relations with key water stakeholders. He has been elected and appointed to a number of committees at the national and international level dealing with different subjects of water sector programs. He is currently an Alternate- Governor of the World Water Council (WWC) Board of Governors, Advisory Board Member of Global Institute for Water, Environment and Health (GIWEH), Vice President of Africa Water Association (AfWA) Scientific and Technical Council. He also served in the International Steering Committee of the Global Water Partnership Alliance (GWOPA) for two terms up to 2015. Vyakweli was recently appointed to the National Steering Committee of Kenya on the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) no. 6 (Water and Sanitation) reporting to UN- Water. He has been actively involved in hosting a number of forums in Nairobi including International Water Association (IWA) 3rd Development Congress, 17th AfWA International Water & Exhibition Congress and recently the 62nd World Water Council Board of Governors meeting.
