Manuel Mattiat has worked for the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) over the past eight years, managing technical cooperation projects in the area of youth entrepreneurship, microfinance, industrial policy and renewable energy. He is currently based in the Department of Energy at UNIDO HQ, where he manages sustainable energy projects in Africa and Eastern Europe. These projects mainly focus on rural electrification and technology transfer: developing off-grid energy systems in remote areas to support productive activities, introducing low carbon technologies to support the development of agro-food value chains and establishing manufacturing sites for renewable energy equipment. Before joining UNIDO, he has gained work experience with the German Parliament and Foreign Office. Manuel Mattiat is a graduate of the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna, where he received a Masters degree in International Relations (2010), Sciences Po Paris (2007) and Oxford University (2008).
