Mael Martinie is an urban mobility expert born in Lyon, France, aged 35.

He received a Master in International Management from EDHEC Business School (France) and Deusto University (Spain). After a short carrier in the consulting world (Accenture), he changed his carrier path to enrol in the Master of Public Affairs from the Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po Paris) in 2010 together with a Master of Public Policy from the Hertie School of Governance (Berlin, Germany) the following year (dual degree). He focused his master thesis on urban transport and mega events in Rio de Janeiro (field research). After his graduation in 2012, Mael worked one year as a transport and climate consultant for GIZ, the German development agency, both in Frankfurt, Germany, and in Mexico City for the federal government.
He then joined in 2014 the International Transport Forum at the OECD to provide support to the research team on the elaboration on the Transport Outlook, the transport publication of the OECD, as well as on various other research projects.

Since 2015 he works for CODATU, a multi stakeholder NGO that promotes sustainable urban transport in developing and emerging countries. He is project manager for the international initiative MobiliseYourCity that seeks to accompany developing cities in their efforts to better plan urban mobility to improve accessibility for all, reduce road fatalities, congestions, air pollution and CO2 emissions and wishes to involve over 100 cities between 2016 and 2020. He dedicates half of his time to the Secretariat of MobiliseYourCity (Communication, Outreach and Partnerships), and the other half to the implementation of the initiative in Cameroon and Tunisia.

When he is not busy with urban mobility planning topics, Mael plays the saxophone in a band and takes a shot of adrenaline when he skydives.
