Carolin graduated as a chemical engineer in 1993 and specialized in environmental technologies and management in 1994. In 1995 she started her carrier as a scientist at the Flemish Institute for Technological Research (VITO). Currently Carolin is project manager in a team dealing with sustainability assessments within the built environment. Carolin has been involved in the performance of different life cycle assessment studies (LCAs), environmental product declarations (EPDs) and Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) projects for building material producers, architects, building contractors and policy makers. Carolin is member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of LCA and actively involved in the European normalization committee CEN TC 350 (Sustainability of construction works).
